Hoosac Valley Girls Head Back to Quarter-Finals

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Emma Meczywor led three Hoosac Valley players in double figures Monday as the girls basketball team rolled to the Division 5 State Quarter-Finals with a 63-32 win over Mahar.

 

Meczywor scored 16. Ashlyn Lesure and Taylor Garabedian finished with 13 apiece.

 

In the second quarter, Lesure hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points, and Meczywor scored seven as the Hurricanes took control, outscoring the Senators, 20-3, to take a 32-13 lead into the locker room.

 

Maryn Cappiello and Haann Shea each scored five for the top-seeded Hurricanes, who improved to 20-3.

 

Hoosac Valley moves on to face No. 9 St. John Paul II (17-6), a 60-46 winner over No. 25 Academy of the Pacific Rim on Monday night.
