Lagess Leads Hurricanes to Tourney Win on Road

GRANBY, Mass. – Genevieve Lagess Monday scored 18 points to lead the ninth-seeded Hoosac Valley girls basketball team to a 50-40 win over Granby in the Division 5 State Tournament Sweet 16.

 

Lagess scored seven points, and Reagan Shea (13 points) was 4-for-6 from the free throw line in the pivotal third quarter, when Hoosac Valley outscored the Rams, 15-8, to take a 38-27 lead into the fourth.

 

Gianna Witek scored 10 points in the win.

 

Hoosac Valley (9-13) advances to face top-seeded Drury on Friday in the state quarter-finals.
