DALTON, Mass. – The Wahconah girls basketball team opened the game on a 17-2 run and never looked back in taking a 63-25 decision from Hampshire on Friday afternoon.

Grace Wigington scored 20 points, and Olivia Gamberoni and Dani Barry finished with 13 and 10 respectively for unbeaten Wahconah.

Emma Belcher hit a layup late in the first quarter to give Wahconah its first 15-point lead at 17-2.

After Hampshire hit a shot at the other end, the hosts went on a 14-0 run that stretched to the middle of the second quarter.

Wigington got that started with six straight points at the end of the first – all in transition from a Wahconah defense that forced 15 first-half turnovers.

The run ended at the foul line with two from Belcher and two from Olivia Roberts to make it 31-4 with three minutes, 40 seconds left in the first half.
