Duquette, Barnes Earn Weekly Honors

This week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athletes of the Week each have helped his or her team overcome slow starts and pick up momentum in the new year.
 
Seamus Barnes had a double-double on Thursday to lead the Mount Greylock boys basketball team to its fourth straight victory.
 
Barnes scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the home win.
 
For the season, he is leading a balanced Mount Greylock scoring attack with 10.33 points per game.
 
Mount Greylock opened the season with two losses before running its record to 4-2 heading into Tuesday's game at Lenox.
 
The Pittsfield girls basketball team is 3-2 going into Monday's home game against Chicopee.
 
The Generals started the year 0-2 before winning three straight, and Jamie Duquette is scoring 24 points per game during the winning streak.
 
In Pittsfield's closest game of the year, a 48-47 road win at West Springfield, Duquette had a double-double with 26 points and 11 boards and passed out five assists.
 
She is averaging a double-double this winter with 20.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game.
 
The Generals have a busy week ahead. After starting with the Pacers, they face city rival Taconic on Tuesday at the Boys and Girls Club before finishing the week at Minnechaug on Friday.
