CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Hampshire’s K’s killed Mount Greylock on Saturday afternoon at the Berkshire County Coaches vs. Cancer Showcase at Hoosac Valley High School.

Katy O’Connor scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Katelyn Pickunka scored 14 to lead Hampshire to a 56-28 victory.

Mount Greylock was right in the thick of a defensive battle midway through the second quarter when senior Sarah Stripp hit the deck going for a defensive rebound.

Stripp left for the rest of the quarter to ice down an apparent bruise on her right leg, and Hampshire turned a 13-11 lead into a 23-11 bulge at half-time.

Though Stripp (three points, four rebounds, two assists) came back in the third quarter, Mount Greylock (9-3) never recovered.

Coach Amy Cyr's team opened up a 22-point lead when O’Connor capped a 14-4 run to open the second half, and Mount Greylock never got closer than 18 points the rest of the way.

Jenna Benzinger led the Mounties with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Howard scored 10 and grabbed six boards.

Mount Greylock goes to Lee on Tuesday.
