This week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athletes of the Week have been dominant on the slopes and on the mat this winter.

Pittsfield High junior Eliza Mullen has placed first in four of five races for the Berkshire County Alpine High School Ski League, winning by at least a second each week and, most weeks, by multiple seconds at Bousquet Mountain.

Mullen has helped the Generals to one first place finish and four seconds this winter, keeping Pittsfield in contention for the team title with one race remaining, Monday evening.

Mullen is a new but familiar face to the local ski circuit, having spent the last three years studying at the Green Mountain Valley School, a ski academy near Sugarbush in northern Vermont.

"It was a lot of pressure there, so it's nice to come back here and just have fun and find the love for the sport again," Mullen said, explaining her transition back to PHS.

"I had a back injury, which was part of it, and I really wasn't loving the sport anymore. I think coming back here, just to find the love and joy for it has been really helpful."

After Monday's league finale and the state Alpine meet at the end of the month at Wachusett, Mullen said she is looking forward to playing lacrosse this spring.

Junior Sam St. Peter is a two-sport standout at Monument Mountain.

In the fall, he was all-star lineman on a Spartan football team that went 5-3 in the regular season, including a win over rival Lee and a Tri-County League Championship.

This winter, he returned to the high school wrestling mats, where on Saturday he defended his 285-pound titla at the Western Massachusetts Division 3 Champioships.

In doing so, St. Peter went 3-0 at Mount Greylock Regional School, keeping his record perfect at 32-0 this season.

He also helped Monument Mountain place third in the section.

On Friday, he and the other top finishers from the Western Mass meet head east to Wakefield Memorial High School for the Division 3 State Championships.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
