Lummus' Late Free Throws Lift Pittsfield Girls to Tourney Win

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Pittsfield senior Jordyn Lummus hit a pair of free throws with one second left to give the Pittsfield girls basketball team a 50-49 win over top-seeded Northampton in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Division 2 tournament.
 
Lummus finished with a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds for the eighth-seeded Generals (11-10).
 
Alexi Sondrini scored 14 points, and Emery Sime finished with nine.
 
Jamie Duquette scored eight. She also had team-highs for rebounds with 14 and assists with five.
 
In addition to moving on to next week’s sectional semi-finals, Pittsfield avenged a 65-45 loss to the Blue Devils on the opening day of the season back on Dec. 12.
 
On Tuesday, Pittsfield goes to Western New England University to play No. 4 East Longmeadow (14-7), a 56-43 winner over Tantasqua on Thursday.
