ORANGE, Mass. – Hayden Comeau scored 23 points Thursday to lead the Mahar girls basketball team to a 53-47, overtime win over Lenox in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament.

“It was a back and forth game in the fourth quarter,” Lenox coach Nicole Patella said. “Lenox was down two with six seconds left, and Mahar had the ball on the sideline, Evelyn Julieano gets the steal to tie the game at 45 and send it to OT.

“Too many turnovers killed us in the overtime period and having to foul was the downfall for us.”

Julieano finished with a team-high 17 points for the Millionaires. Her sister Grace scored 11, and Layla Soules and Claire O’Brien added six and seven apiece.

Lenox (4-13) waits to hear who it will play in the tournament’s consolation game.

Fourth-seeded Mahar goes to top-seeded Drury on Saturday for a berth in the regional final.
