RSVP provides individuals 55 and older who live in Berkshire County the opportunity to use their time and skills to make a difference in the community while meeting new people
A 50-year anniversary celebration was held at the Berkshire Athenaeum on Wednesday, featuring tables with around 30 organizations that have partnered with the program as well as food and joyful spirits.
The event, which will be held from 1-3 p.m., is free and open to the public. It will feature close to 30 volunteer stations representing organizations who are partners with RSVP throughout the county.
Tyer presented the Volunteer of the Year award to Real Gadoury for the work he has done with RSVP. Gadoury has been volunteering for RSVP since February 2019 and, by the end of 2021, he had donated 515 hours to the community.
This is done on the fourth Friday of each month through the Council on Aging's Brown Bag Grocery Program, which provides eligible seniors with a bag of groceries through curbside pickup and van delivery.
This collaborative initiative between RSVP and the city’s Office of Cultural Development will be open from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
