Ski Butternut
Skiing and snowboarding are pivotal activities for Youth Enrichment Services (Y.E.S.), which operates the largest urban based program of skiing, snowboarding and outdoor education in the country. Y.E.S. is teaming up with Ski Butternut in Great Barrington, Mass., on Jan 25, to raise money for its programs that “give youth a chance”. The second Massachusetts Snow Challenge is open to snow sliders of all ages. This all day event will include a ski/snowboard race, apres party and a live and silent auction, all benefiting Y.E.S. People of all abilities are encouraged to participate in this fund raising event and be part of the fun at Ski Butternut, described by SKI magazine as “a true family mountain!” Last year, the inaugural Mass. Snow Challenge attracted 50 racers, 150 Y.E.S. participants, and 30 Y.E.S volunteers. This year the hope is to attract 75 racers, and raise $10,000. Involvement in this event can be done on two participation levels. The “Cruiser” level participation is $60 and includes entrance to the Mass. Snow Challenge and lift ticket for the day, lunch and event T-shirt. The buy in for the second level, “Lucifers Leap” is $1000 and includes everything from the “Cruiser “level plus, a Ski Butternut season pass 2003/2004 and a $100 gift certificate to Butternut Ski and Board Shop. “Please join the tradition and help us support Massachusetts children and families,” Jef Murdock President Ski Butternut. Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street.

With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.

This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.

Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.

Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
