Pittsfield - Kripalu Yoga Teachers Institute graduate Deborah 'Waterfall' Perry is offering a beginning yoga class beginning in May in Pittsfield. Attendees will learn yoga postures from the ground up, learn and experience many breathing techniques, and participate in deep relaxation exercises to reap the benefits of a rich yoga practice. This class is designed for anyone who is new to yoga, and for people looking for a peaceful, loving environment away from their busy lives. The classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, starting May 3RD. Morning classes available by request. Eight weeks of once-a-week classes are only $65, or you may attend classes on a walk in basis for only $10 per class. All classes will be held at Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, 28 Renne Avenue in Pittsfield. Call 413-442-3911 to reserve your space: attendance is limited: Students will need to bring your own yoga mat, a blanket and pillow. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Kripalu yoga practice is open to anyone and everyone- you do not have to be flexible to do yoga! Yoga helps to increase flexibility and physical strength and create more peace in your life. Yoga also can help prevent scoliosis, relieve body tension, improve your posture, and help to calm the 'Monkey Mind' of daily worries. Perry is a recent graduate from Kripalu's Yoga Teacher Training course in Lenox, Massachusetts. She has been practicing Kripalu yoga for more than four years, and teaches yoga as a volunteer to psychiatric patients at Berkshire Medical Center. Her desire to help people has reflected in such ways as traveling alone to South Africa to volunteer in orphanages and many AIDS hospices in KwaZulu-Natal, the highest populated area of AIDS in Africa. She has also studied Shakespearean theater intensively with Shakespeare Alive! and studied theater in New York City at the New Actors Workshop.
