“An Acoustic Evening with the Steve Hackett Trio”
Troy, NY. - Following the phenomenal success of his progressive pop/rock group GENESIS, guitar virtuoso Steve Hackett has emerged as a star solo performer and composer in his own right. Joined by his brother, John on flute and keyboardist Roger King, Hackett leaves the strobe lights and bass pedals behind for a unique ‘unplugged’ show at the Hall entitled “An Acoustic Evening with the Steve Hackett Trio” on Monday, October 10 at 8 PM. On this, his first U.S. tour with his Acoustic Trio, Hackett promises “selections from all solo periods and the French Impressionists but nothing too purist and the occasional hint of jazz. Even a couple of Genesis tunes too!” To date, Hackett has released five classical guitar albums, the most recent of which is Metamorpheus, the successor to 1997’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. These albums clearly demonstrate his ability to bridge the gap between rock and classical music, earning Hackett the admiration of both rock contemporaries and leading classical players. In his fourth decade as a professional musician, Hackett remains true to his muse, relentless in pursuit of his myriad artistic goals. His reputation continues to rest on sheer talent and his never failing ability to challenge and intrigue his audience. Steve Hackett started out as a harmonica player, abandoning his plans when he joined GENESIS in late 1970. Along with Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, he enjoyed phenomenal success. When he left the band in 1977, it was to develop his own style, which he finally accomplished with his third solo album Spectral Mornings. Since then, there have been fourteen more studio albums, all of which have enjoyed consistent international success. John Hackett has toured and recorded extensively with his brother Steve, in addition to his solo career with the English Flute Quartet. In 2004, he released his first solo album, Velvet Afternoon. Roger King is a classically trained musician, writer, programmer and engineer who has worked as an in-house recording engineer and producer as well as working on high profile movies such as “cliffhanger” and “In the Name of the Father.” Reserved seats for An Acoustic Evening with the Steve Hackett Trio are $29 and $26, and may be purchased by calling the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Box Office at (518) 273-0038 or online at www.troymusichall.org. The Music Hall Box Office opens 90 minutes prior to the performance.
