MCLA Inducts Students Into Alpha Lambda Delta, Alpha Chi

North Adams - Local students were inducted in the Alpha Lambda Delta and Alpha Chi Honor Societies at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts during Fall Family Weekend October 22, 2005. Alpha Lambda Delta is the national society honoring academic excellence during a student's first year in college, while Alpha Chi promotes the academic excellence and exemplary character of juniors and seniors. Local students being honored include: Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society Adams Ashley Contois, a sophomore majoring in English Communications Elizabeth Porio, a sophomore majoring in Biology Pittsfield Patrick Harris, a sophomore majoring in Fine & Performing Arts Williamstown Jenna St. Pierre, a freshman whose major is undeclared Alpha Chi National Honor Society Adams Stephanie Dery, a senior majoring in History Alicia Girgenti, a junior majoring on Psychology Sarah LaFrance, a junior majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies Erica Nonenmacher, a senior majoring in English Communications Meagan Parker, a junior majoring in Biology Linsey Pelletier, a senior majoring in Sociology Billie-Jean Poirot, a junior majoring in Psychology Donna Richardson, a junior majoring in Business Administration Dana Ruebesam, a junior majoring in Business Administration Christina Zepka, a junior majoring in Psychology North Adams Aaron Brigham, a senior majoring in Computer Science Ethan Brigham, a senior majoring in Computer Science Jennifer Daub, a senior majoring in Sociology Sharon Maxwell, a junior in Sociology Natalie Montoya-Barnes, a senior majoring in History Jennifer Thomas, a junior majoring in English Communications April Tovani, a junior majoring in Psychology Pittsfield Kristen Baker, a junior majoring in Fine & Performing Arts Stefanie Corl, a senior majoring in Psychology Michael Harrington, a senior majoring in Philosophy Kevin Rahilly, a senior majoring in Business Administration Holly Rohlfs, a junior majoring in Sociology Alyson Warman, a senior majoring in Business Administration Cheshire Melissa Gregory, a senior majoring in Sociology Jason Mendonca, a senior majoring in Business Administration Lanesboro Karen Moisuk, a junior majoring in Psychology Clarksburg Cathy Howe, a junior majoring in English Communications Florida Lacey Sumner, a junior majoring in Psychology The MCLA chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta began in 1999 and recently received the Bronze Award for increased membership. Alpha Chi has chapters at 300 institutions and inducts no more than the top 10 percent of students from all academic disciplines.

Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street. 
 
With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.
 
This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.
 
Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.
 
Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
