Pittsfield - The Pittsfield Dukes are pleased to announce the signing of two players for the 2006 season. Arizona State University infielder/outfielder Willy Fox and Stanford University outfielder Brendan Domaracki have agreed to join the Dukes as the Dukes enter their third season in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). Stanford University and Arizona State University rank among the top collegiate baseball programs in the nation, and both Fox and Domaracki will look to bring the same type of success they've experienced at the college level to the Dukes during the 2006 season. Fox's Arizona State team, which advanced to the 2005 College World Series, experienced success at a high level. He believes, "We are successful because everyone buys in. Everyone working towards one goal. Everyone is worrying about the team ahead of everything else." Domaracki echoed the same feelings regarding what must happen for a team to be successful. "The team must come together as a team to be successful." Fox and Domaracki will have two seasons of collegiate baseball under their belts when they take the field for the Dukes. Fox finished his freshman year batting .295 (31-for-105) with 27 RBI during the entire 45 game season, and was particularly productive when he started, where he batted .342 (27-for-79) with 24 RBI. Domaracki saw most of his action at designated hitter last season, and looks to cash in on more playing time in left field during his sophomore year. In his action as a freshman, he batted .208 with 14 RBI. Both men seemed excited at the thought of playing baseball throughout the summer. Fox mentioned, "I am pretty excited (to play for the Dukes). I can't be anything but excited." Domaracki added, "I can't wait to come to Massachusetts and play some more ball (after his collegiate season ends)." Arizona State opens versus Cal-State Northridge January 27, while Stanford opens versus Cal-State Fullerton February 3. Season tickets for the Dukes are available now.
