Tuesday, May 6, 2008 Stanley’s 8 – Police 5No write up for the winning Stanley team for this game.
Tyler Mach and Chris Gajda pitched well in the effort for Police, however, falling to Stanley’s 8 to 5. Lucas Bourdon defensively made some great plays while also getting a hit. Also getting hits for Police were Mach and John Lewis with 2 hits, while Cam Anderson, Tyler O’Neil and Ian Hill each got one.
Friday, May 9, 2008 Val’s 8 – Lions 4
Shaun Knapp pitched 4 scoreless innings, striking out 8 batters and allowing just 3 hits as Val’s Variety beat a gutsy Lions team 8-4. Val’s jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, sparked mostly by some aggressive base running. Lions battled back gamely with 4 runs in the 5th inning to cut the lead to 6-4. Val’s then scored 2 insurance runs in the 6th inning, sparked by Matt Burdick’s double and Brandon Tworig’s RBI single. Matt Koperniak came on to pitch the final inning for Val’s and struck out the side to preserve the win. Tworig and Burdick led the Val’s offense with 2 hits apiece. David Haley also singled for Val’s.
Danny Butler and Cody O’Neil each had a single and a double with 2 RBI’s for the losing Lions team. Colby Gage was on the mound for Lions, striking out 7 and allowing 3 hits in 4 innings. Danny Butler came on the mound for the last 2 innings striking out 4 and allowing 2 hits.
Sunday, May 11, 2008 Elks 10 – Stanley’s 1
The Elks received another outstanding night on the mound, this time from Keith Pero with 10 strikeouts, no walks and 4 hits allowed in 5 innings for his first win of the year. Joey Gwozdz finished the game with 2 strikeouts in the sixth. Justin Nichols led all hitters with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. Sean Ryan-Kut chipped in with a hit and 3 runs scored form the leadoff spot and Nolan Hayer started 2 rallies with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. David Bailot had a perfect night with a hit, 3 walks and 2 RBI’s. Gwozdz, Zach Wright and Pero contributed big hits as well. The Elks are now 3-1 on the season.

Sunday, May 11, 2008 Police 11 – Lions 8
The Police were able to hold the Lions from coming back from an early deficit to win an 11 to 8 victory over the Lions. John Lewis had earned the victory for his first Little League win. Tristan McNay got his first Little League hit. Ian Hill got a double while Chris Gajda, Tyler Mach, and Lewis each received one.
Cody O’Neil had a single and 2 doubles with 2 RBI’s, Tyler Carpenter had 2 singles with 2 RBI’s, CJ Lillie had a single with 2 RBI’s, Danny Butler had 2 singles and Dylan Gigliotti had a single which was his first Little League hit for the Lions. Kyle Sagendorph also chipped in with a hit and a RBI. Danny Butler had pitched the whole game for the Lions giving up 9 runs, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.
Sunday, May 11, 2008 Val’s 16 – Co-op 12
Val’s Variety scored a come-from-behind 16-12 victory over Adams Co-op, scoring 11 runs in the 4th inning to erase a 10-3 Co-op lead. David Haley started the rally with a leadoff double as Val’s sent 15 batters to the plate. Nine different Val’s players had at least one hit in the 12 hit attack. Brandon Tworig, Matt Waltermire and Matt Koperniak had 2 hits apiece. Chris Gardner chipped in with a single. Tworig came on in relief of Matt Waltermire and pitched 3 solid innings, allowing only 3 hits while striking out 6 and not allowing a walk. With the win, Val’s remain perfect on the young season at 4-0.
For Co-op, Cory Puccio led the charge, going 2-3 with a Homerun and 4 RBI’s. Dahandre Sistrunk had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s and Nick Kordana had a double with 2 RBI’s. Ben Trimarchi and Dylan Martins each had 2 hits with a RBI and Eric Sneizek went 3-4. Starting on the mound for Co-op was Puccio. He was relieved by Zach Albareda and Sistrunk.
