Shade Murder Case Moves to Superior Court

Eugene A. Shade II, 34, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and one count of assualt and battery by means of dangerous weapon before Judge Daniel Ford.
Julie Shade, 22, died in the early hours of July 30 at Berkshire Medical Center from injuries she allegedly received at the hands of her husband on July 22 at their Edgewood Avenue home in North Adams.
Ford ordered Eugene Shade continue to be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction without bail. Shade had previously been arraigned on a murder charge in Northern Berkshire District Court the day his wife died.
He has been in jail since being arrested for allegedly strangling his wife during a domestic abuse. Julie Shade never recovered and was listed in critical condition until her death eight days later.
The Shades have two daughters, ages 1 and 3.
The investigation was conducted by members of the North Adams Police Department and state police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office.
