GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Bard College at Simon’s Rock announces its event line-up for the month of December. All events listed are free and open to the public and provide Berkshire County residents an opportunity to dig into affordable culture, year-round. From visual and performing arts to lectures and readings, the campus moves into high gear as the numerous cultural venues in the Berkshires wrap up the summer season. Monday, December 01, 2008 — Thursday, December 18, 2008 -The Atrium Gallery at the Alumni Library
Exhibition: Barbara Resnik’s “Pentimento”

Retired Simon’s Rock faculty member, Barbara Resnik brings her work to the College’s Atrium Gallery at the Alumni Library. Resnik’s work is included in many private collections. She brings a rare perspective to the gallery as an attorney, graphic designer, and printmaker. Her interests include issues of race, class, gender, and the law; art and media in contemporary culture; and population policy and reproductive rights. She has served as catalogue and exhibition designer for numerous galleries and institutions. The Gallery is open 8:30 am – midnight, daily.

Bard College at Simon’s Rock is the nation’s only college designed expressly to educate bright, highly motivated students after the tenth or eleventh grade. Founded in 1966 by Elizabeth Hall, Simon’s Rock joined the Bard College system in 1979. It maintains its own campus in Great Barrington, Massachusetts (the heart of the culture-rich Berkshires), and unique identity as a supportive intellectual home for early college students. Bard College at Simon’s Rock enrolls approximately 400 full-time students, and grants both Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in more than 40 academic concentrations.

Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street. 
 
With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.
 
This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.
 
Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.
 
Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
