The Lyons captured the first game 25-15, but MCLA evened the match with a 25-23 victory in game two. The Lyons took over from there, winning games three and four comfortably by scores of 25-17 and 25-21.
MCLA was led by Kayla Bromback who had a team high 10 kills and Angelica Perfido chipped in with seven. Allie Chang once again led the team with 25 digs.
The Trailblazers struggled all night to get any kind of momentum. Game two was a see-saw affair that saw several lead changes throughout; neither the Trailblazers nor Lyons could pull away by more than a point or two. Bromback helped put the game for MCLA late with a big kill. The momentum didn't carry over into game three as Mt. Holyoke turned a close game into a decisive 25-17 victory.
MCLA made several unforced errors in game four and didn't have an answer for Martina Kneifel. The sophomore had nine of her game-high twelve kills in the last two games. Alison Chu led the Lyons with sixteen assists and was often setting up Kniefel for winners.
Mt. Holyoke moves to 2-2 on the year and MCLA drops to 2-9 on the season. MCLA will look to turn things around as they host Becker and Green Mountain this Saturday beginning at 11.
