SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — All Big Y Supermarkets donated proceeds from their October initiative "Partners of Hope" to 31 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.

In Berkshire County, Berkshire Medical Center's Women's Imaging Center received a portion of the nearly $200,000 donated.

This program reflects the partnership, commitment and support of breast cancer awareness and research that are so vital for many. In October, Big Y raised $195,000.

"Despite the pandemic, breast cancer affects thousands of women and more men each year. Through our Partners of Hope
campaign, we want to not only promote breast cancer awareness but also save lives through early detection and care," Big Y CEO, Charles D'Amour said.

Since 2007, Big Y has raised well over $2 million dollars to support local breast cancer initiatives.

iBerkshires.com Sports
WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Stars survived a furious comeback by Pittsfield to earn an 8-7 win in Game 2 of the Western Massachusetts Championship Series on Wednesday night.

The win makes Westfield the Western Mass champion, but since Westfield is hosting the New England Regional July 17-21, Pittsfield qualifies for the regional at Bullens Field as the section’s runner-up.

Westfield scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 8-3 lead.

But Pittsfield fought back, scoring four times and putting the tying run at second base with one out before Westfield was able to end it.

Jake Merwin had a pair of hits, and Mateo Herrera and Troy Maloy each doubled in a seven-hit attack for Pittsfield.

Ryder Froio started on the mound and went five innings, striking out three and allowing two earned runs.
