Youngsters compete in the Obstacles and Popsicles Half-Mile race at the Sunday's Dalton CRA May Day Races.
DALTON, Mass. -- Alex White and Fabienne Theriault took home 10-kilometer titles from Sunday's 45th Dalton CRA May Day Races.
The annual fund-raiser for the Community Recreation Association attracted 98 runners for its 5K and 10K divisions and 150 entrants in its children's races.
White was the top finisher in the 10K (6.2 miles) with a time of 34 minutes, 50.40 seconds, a 5:36 mile pace. Runner-up Chris Girard crossed the finish line in 44:58.85.
Theriault won the women's division of the 10K in 47:40.96. Kristy McWilliams was the runner-up in 48:43.92.
In the 5K, Lucas Wildrick hit the tape in 19:32.45, a 6:17 mile pace, finishing about a second ahead of North Adams' Griffin Labbance, who clocked a time of 19:33.69.
The top woman in the 5K was Ellen Ross, who finished in 24:13.79. Second in her division was Madison Mullen, who finished in 25:24.34.
The event featured three races for younger athletes.
In the Sprint Splatter Mile, Abbey Wong was victorious in 7:33.30. The runner up and top boy was Cam Sievers in 7:44.32.
Eight-year-old Brayden Sievers won the Obstacles and Popsicles half-mile race for runners 6 and up with a time of 4:46.51. He was closely followed by runner-up Addison Wilkinson in 4:47.50.
The O&P 5-and-under title went to 5-year-old Everett Sondrini in 5:33.78. The runner-up was Emerson Kalmakis, 5, in 6:24.47.
