DALTON, Mass. — The Community Recreation Association (CRA) will hold an Open House on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, from 5:15 am through 6:30 pm. 
 
This will be a free day with activities for all ages. Attendees can see the upgraded Fitness Center where there will be different activities including swimming, a fitness class, and trivia.
 
There will be basketball, pickleball, ping pong, or cornhole and more in the gymnasium.
 
Attendees can meet with Executive Director Alison Peters at Mill + Main, a CRA property from 12:00-1:00 pm and learn about the CRA's programs. The recreation team will hold a presentation in the Hall of Fame from 2:00-3:00 pm about the youth and adult sports programs the CRA offers. Visit the Dalton Youth Center (DYC) from 3:00-6:00 pm to learn about DYC programs. There will be gym games including dodgeball, basketball, and kickball.
 
Visitors can take advantage of a promotional membership discount offered during the Open House as well as enter a raffle with a chance to win a $100 Amazon Gift Card prize.

Dalton CRA May Day Races Return May 5

DALTON, Mass.  — The 47th annual Community Recreation Association May Day Races will be held Sunday, May 5, at Nessacus Middle School, with major sponsorship by Greylock Federal Credit Union.
 
Races include 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer, the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races for ages 8 and under, and a 1-mile Splatter Sprint for ages 8 and up, all with chip timing by Berkshire Running Center, along with an untimed fun walk.
 
The 5K road/trail race, 10K road race and fun walk begin at 9 a.m. The Obstacles & Popsicles races begin at 10 a.m., with the Splatter Sprint immediately following.
 
The first 100 runners to register (combined 5K/10K) will receive a long-sleeve wicking T-shirt. Every participant in the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races will receive a ribbon and freeze pop at the finish line. All proceeds benefit nonprofit CRA and Dalton Youth Center programs.
