The Tanglewood Association of the Boston Symphony Association of Volunteers(BSAV) is sponsoring a trip to Symphony Hall in Boston on Friday, October 18.
The highlight of the trip will be a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert, including the BSO’s second American premiere of the 2002-03 season, Henze’s Scorribanda Sinfonica, under conductor Roberto Abbado. Mr. Henze- who has a long and distinguished history with the BSO- base this work on material written in the 1950’s for a ballet collaboration with Italian filmmaker Luchino Visconti.
This work was given its world premiere in Hamburg in June 2001. This program also features Mitsuko Uchida as soloist in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, K.467, and closes with Rachaninoff’s Symphony No. 3. Upon arrival at Boston’s Symphony Hall, participants will tour Symphony Hall, including the music library.
A catered luncheon will be served, followed by a pre-concert lecture in the Hall. Following the concert, an informal reception will be hosted by BSAV Boston volunteer leadership. Patrons will leave from the Main Gate at Tanglewood on October 18 at 7:45 a.m. on a deluxe motor coach. Planned return time at Tanglewood will be approximately 7:15 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $75 and will cover the round-trip coach bus fare, tour, lunch, concert tickets, and reception. The public is invited for this special program; registrations are limited.
