PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The North Providence, R.I., 13-year-old All-Stars scored six times in the top of the first and went on to a 9-5 win over Pittsfield at the Babe Ruth New England Championship on Sunday.
Gabriel Ferreira went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jackson Rahill was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for the Rhode Island State Champions.
Cooper Reed led Pittsfield, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Isaac Acevedo went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.
Pittsfield finishes play in the four-team round-robin phase at the tournament with a record of 0-3.
Rhode Island (1-2) moves on to Monday's bracket-play phase of the tournament.
