Northern Berkshire Adult Education Announces Summer Course Offerings

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Northern Berkshire Adult Education announced its lineup of summer courses, all running July 20 – August 27, 2026. 
 
This summer's offerings provide both in-person and remote options. Courses include:
 
  • Financial Literacy — Taught by Dylan Newell, this course covers budgeting, saving, investing, and credit, aligning with adult education math standards to help prepare students for the HiSET. In person Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30–7:30 p.m., at the North Adams Armory.
  • Creative Writing — Led by Julia McKenzie, students will explore poetry, short fiction, and memoir while building reading and writing skills aligned with HiSET preparation standards. Mondays and Wednesdays, 3–5 p.m., at the North AdamsArmory.
  • Remote Beginning English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) — Instructed by Leah Franke. Open to new and continuing students. Remote learning Mondays and Tuesdays, 10 a.m.–noon.
  • Remote Intermediate ESOL — Instructed by Leah Franke. Open to new and continuing students. Remote learning Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 6–8:30 p.m.
 
All courses are designed to support learners in reaching their educational and personal goals. Interested students are encouraged to enroll before classes begin on July 20.

Vermont Rally Sinks SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Vermont Mountaineers Wednesday rallied for six runs in the seventh inning to erase a four-run deficit and went to a 13-10 win over the SteepleCats at Joe Wolfe Field in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Alex Barrist went 3-for-4 with a double, and Nelphie Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs to lead North Adams' offense. Sebastian Rhoades doubled and drove in a pair in a 3-for-5 night at the plate.
 
Seven North Adams pitchers combined to strike out 10 and walk five, but five SteepleCats errors led to six unearned runs.
 
The SteepleCats (7-24) are at Keene, N.H., on Thursday night.
