Ventfort Hall To Hold Inaugural Benefit Antique Auction

Staff Reports Print Story | Email Story

LENOX, Mass. — Ventfort Hall will host a fundraising auction comprised of donated items on Friday, Aug. 14, from 2 to pm.

Doors will open at noon. A preview of auction items will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13. Organized by Louis Schroeter of Williamstown, chair of the restoration committee, the inaugural benefit auction aims to generate critical support for both museum operations and ongoing preservation projects.

The auction will be composed entirely of high-quality items received by donation for the purpose of the auction. Proceeds will help sustain the day-to-day operations that allow Ventfort Hall to continue serving the public while also advancing essential restoration work.

Among the most urgent restoration needs is the multi-million-dollar East End restoration project. A temporary stabilization measure installed eight years ago is losing effectiveness as the mortar in the East End tower continues to deteriorate. The tower's façade is currently secured by tension cables, requiring immediate restoration for perpetuity.

Errol Farr, co-owner of Old Kinderhook Auctions, will facilitate the auction.

Admission to the auction is free. Bidding will be in person, with options for phone-in bidding.

The mansion is located at 104 Walker St. in Lenox, Massachusetts.

Smaller antique items to be auctioned off can be brought to Ventfort Hall directly, at 104 Walker Street in Lenox, MA. Pick-up is available if needed. Donating an item funds vital programs and ongoing restoration at Ventfort Hall. Contributions are tax-deductible based on fair market value.
