Dalton - The Dalton Art Guild will showcase paintings by two local artists beginning Monday, February 3, 2003 and continuing through the end of the month at Town Hall, 462 Main Street, Dalton, Massachusetts.
The works to be displayed are by Berkshire County Artists Eileen H. Riello of Pittsfield, and Violet A. Wilcox of Pittsfield, both members of the Dalton Art Guild.
Riello was a member of the former Pittsfield Art league where she was awarded a top prize in oils. As an active member of the Dalton Art Guild, her paintings have been in several art shows throughout the Berkshires including Sugar Hill, the former Crane Mansion in Dalton. Currently, Riello is the manager of the guild's "Revolving Art Galleries" where members can showcase their works in several business locations in Pittsfield and Dalton. Riello paints in both mediums, oils and watercolors. She and her husband reside in Pittsfield.
Wilcox studied with well known Berkshire County artist, Fauna Autenreith of Peru, Massachusetts. She is currently the chairperson of the Dalton Art Guild and her work can be seen in any of their shows. Most recently, Wilcox won an honorable mention for her oil painting of "Graceland" at the 2002 spring art show held at Sugar Hill in Dalton. She works in a variety of mediums including oil, watercolor, pen and ink, and pastels.

North Adams Double Murder Case Continued to March

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The case of a city man charged with killing his parents was continued to March on Monday.
Darius Hazard, 44, was scheduled for a detention hearing on Monday in Northern Berkshire District Court.
Prior to the start of the court's business, the clerk announced that Hazard's case was continued to Monday, March 2.
Hazard is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson in connection with the Nov. 24 fire that claimed the lives of Donald Hazard, 83, and Venture Hazard, 76.
Police say Hazard confessed to the killings and starting the fire and fled the Francis Street home where he lived with his parents.
