Angelina Laino, 98

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Angelina Laino, 98, formerly of 26 Sperry Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Mondragone, Province of Caserta, Italy, on Feb. 15, 1904, daughter of Louis and Elisabetta Rosati Irace, she emigrated to the United States at the age of 7 with her family. She was educated in North Adams schools and completed training in corsetry and women's foundations in Philadelphia. Mrs. Laino established her own corset specialty shop in North Adams. She later established Angie's Snack Bar on Curran Highway and operated it until her retirement. Previously, she worked as a spinner at the former Greylock Division of the Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and then with the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co., both in North Adams. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a volunteer for church activities. She was a member of North Adams Lodge 704 Sons of Italy in North Adams. She enjoyed bingo, cooking and crocheting. Her husband, Patrick "Patsy" Laino, whom she married June 26, 1922, died Sept. 18, 1982. She leaves three daughters, Florence Baldessarini of North Adams, Dorothy Damiano of East Greenbush, N.Y., and Elizabeth Brennan of Waltham; four sisters, Constance Briola and Rose E. Girardi, both of North Adams, Frances Louison of Williamstown and Mary Maselli of Clarksburg; three brothers, Austin Rogge of Adams, Henry E. Irace of North Adams and John Irace of New Castle, Pa.; her grandchildren Craig and Catherine Betti Baldessarini of North Adams, Nicholas and Lynn Baldessarini Horrigan of Burnt Hills, N.Y., Timothy and Kerry Ann Brennan Maher of Waltham and Jamie Brennan of Boston; and great-grandchildren Shannon Horrigan and Keith Horrigan, Kathryn Maher and Grace Abigail Maher. She was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Laino on June 9, 1930, and two sisters, Josephine Scalise and Philomena "Mamie" Richardello. FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mrs. Laino will take place Saturday, Jan. 4, at 9:30 at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Eagle Street, with the Rev. Albert J. Dagnoli, CSS, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 3, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Anthony's Church through the funeral home.
