LENOX, Mass. -- Nathaniel Lacombe and Tristan Alston scored first-half goals to give the Monument Mountain boys soccer team the lead for good in a 3-1 win over Lenox on Monday.

Early in the second half, Harrison Keator set up Nic Baruch to get the Millionaires within a goal, but Robert Baldwin slotted a ball to Benjamin Badurski, who finished to re-establish the two-goal lead for the Spartans.

“Monument is strong, particularly in the back, winning almost every ball in the air,” Lenox coach Matt Cote said. “We continue to grow as a team, learning from our mistakes. We have made great strides, I think, over the last few weeks, managing our emotions when the going gets tough.

“Now it is time to ‘bring the heat,’ as it were, and take it to our opponents, both offensively and defensively.”

Matthew Tibbetts made two saves for Lenox (4-2-1), which will look to bring some heat on Thursday at Mount Greylock.

Monument Mountain’s Kevin Kelly needed to make no saves to earn the shutout win in goal. The Spartans (3-1-2) are at Pittsfield on Thursday.
