Simmons Scores Twice as Wildcats Earn First Win

LEE, Mass. -- Payton Simmons scored a pair of goals Wednesday to lead the Lee High girls soccer team to a 5-0 win over Taconic.
 
Simmons scored the game-winner with an assist from Ava Lucy, who went on to assist on two more goals in the win.
 
Jenna Simone and Amy Canas added goals to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead at half-time.
 
After the break, Simmons and Shae Kelly each found the back of the net.
 
Maddie Kotek made 10 saves to earn the shutout in goal, fending off pressure from Taconic's Ava Maffucio, who had eight shots on goal.
 
Cadence Apple made eight saves for the Thunder (0-10), which goes to Hoosac Valley on Monday.
 
Lee (1-8) is at Mount Everett on Friday.
