SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Allison Steuernagle scored the game-winner in the first half, and the Mount Everett girls soccer team Thursday went on to a 3-0 win over McCann Tech.

Chevelle Raifstanger set up Steuernagle for the game’s first goal. Emily Steuernagle added an unassisted goal before half-time.

“It took us a couple minutes to find our footing today but once we started moving the ball, finding teammates, and applying pressure good things happened for us,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “Our middle core from strikers to defensive line are doing a tremendous job in controlling that area and distributing the ball to our wings making great runs down the field.”

Josie Waiveris scored with an assist from Ainsley Krans in the second half to finish the scoring.

Emma Wilson made four saves to earn the shutout win in goal.

“I'm proud of the leadership our older girls demonstrate and appreciate their constant encouragement for our teammates on and off the field,” King said. “We have another big test tomorrow with Smith Academy coming to us so it's a quick 24-hour turnaround versus another quality opponent.”

Mount Everett improved to 4-2-1 and extended a four-match unbeaten streak with the win.

McCann Tech (4-2) hosts Duggan Academy on Saturday morning.
