Speed Leads Hornets Past Duggan Academy

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Lily Speed and Faith Brazeau each scored a pair of goals for the McCann Tech girls soccer team in an 8-0 win over Duggan Academy on Thursday.
 
Speed also assisted on a goal, and Emily Feder had two assists as the Hornets extended their unbeaten streak to four games and scored five or more goals for the fifth time in 10 outings.
 
“Emily Feder and Lily Speed took charge of generating our offense,” McCann Tech coach Aubrey Thurston said.
 
Six different McCann Tech players found the back of the net, including Jazzmyn Valego, Sophie Reed, Shaylee Lawson and Athena Shafer. Svea Lawson recorded a pair of assists.
 
Sofia Francesconi and Valego split time in goal, combining for five saves.
 
McCann Tech (7-2-1) goes to Westfield Tech on Wednesday.
