SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Emily Steuernagle scored twice Monday to lead the Mount Everett girls soccer team to a 4-2 win over Hopkins Academy.

The Eagles (3-1-4) jumped out to a four-goal lead, getting first-half goals from Allison Steuernagle, Chevelle Raifstanger and Emily Steuernagle.

“Good bounce back game for us after a tough contest on Saturday,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “The girls rose to the occasion and played a more complete game all around today.

“Emily Steuernagle and Mariah Broderick did a great job of distributing today, and Emily connected on two really nice goals. The forward line continues to apply pressure, which is great, and getting the early goal really helped with momentum and confidence.”

Julianna Valentini set up Emily Steuernagle for the game’s first goal in the second minute.

Tia Fayden scored a pair of goals for Hopkins after Emily Steuernagle’s second goal of the game early in the second half.

Emma Goewey made 10 saves for Mount Everett, which hosts Drury on Wednesday.
