LENOX, Mass. -- A slow start against a very good team resulted in the first loss of the season for the Mount Greylock girls' soccer team on Thursday.

Lenox jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the half and cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Mounties at home. Senior forward Lindsey Moran jumpstarted the Millionaires offense, assiting on her team's first two goals before adding a tally of her own in the 33rd minute of play. Moran first set up Lizzie Wilkerson in the fifth minute and later assisted on Breana Stoszowski's goal with just under 15 minutes to play before halftime.

"Lenox thoroughly outplayed us, especially in the first half," Greylock head coach Tom Ostheimer said.

Junior striker Alex Majetich gave the Mounties (3-1-2) some life with an unassisted goal 10 minutes into the second half, but Josie Marshall quieted Greylock's comeback with another strike for the Millionaires (4-0) eight and a half minutes later.

Greylock junior goalie Margot Besnard put up a fantastic showing in defeat, stopping 20 of the 24 shots she faced on the day. Kathy Prescott collected 10 saves to earn the win for Lenox.

The Mounties next play at Mount Anthony at 6 p.m. on Friday.
