NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Iris Firth scored four goals Tuesday to lead the Monument Mountain girls soccer team to a 6-2 win over Drury in the season opener for both sides.

Annette Boyko and Alex Tenney each scored a goal for the Spartans in the win.

For Drury, Madison Saunders had a goal and an assist, Megan McGrath headed in a cross from Saunders, and Reagan Cornell had an assist.

“The score would have been higher if our senior Brooke Bishop didn’t make the timely saves she did,” Drury coach Syid Uqdah said. “Emily Therian was also strong in the center of the ‘D,’ making very timely tackles.”

Drury (0-1) goes to Mount Greylock on Monday.

Monument Mountain (1-0) has a quick turnaround, going to Kirvin Park in Pittsfield to face the Generals on Wednesday.
