Lenox Girls Hold Off Mount Everett Comeback Bid

LENOX, Mass. -- Sophia Carraro scored one goal and assisted on two others, and the Lenox girls soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead en route to a 5-2 win over Mount Everett on Sunday.
 
Aliza Munch and Rori Lenehan scored goals one minute apart early in the first half, and Cate Welch scored with an assist from Carraro in the 25th minute to make it a three-goal margin.
 
But the Eagles rallied, getting a goal from Chevelle Raifstanger late in the first half and another by Ella Gennari early in the second to get within a goal at 3-2.
 
"Once again, just like on Friday, Lenox found itself pushed into a corner, and was able to dig deep and find goals from Maddi [DiGrigoli] and Sophia [Carraro] to establish to the lead," Lenox coach Brian Seminara said.
 
Carraro assisted DiGrigoli in the 65th minute and scored one of her own in the closing moments with an assist from Lauren Bridges.
 
Ella Hall made 10 saves to earn the win in goal.
 
For Mount Everett, Emma Wilson made 14 saves.
 
The Eagles (6-3-2) hosts Springfield International Charter on Monday.
 
Lenox (7-3-1) is at Drury on Tuesday.
