PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Holyoke volleyball team beat Taconic in five sets on Monday night to hand the Thunder its first loss on the young season.

Neveah Williams tied for the team high with eight kills and passed out 12 assists for Taconic, which also got eight kills and eight aces from Jadyn Galliher in the 25-20, 15-25, 27-25, 16-25, 15-10 loss.

“We did a lot of things really well tonight, but Holyoke’s court coverage and low error rate were the two key factors in our loss,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said.

“Libero Natalia Dos Santos was like a cat in the back court, seemingly able to get anything Holyoke sent over the net. She ended the night with 36 digs, two assists and three aces.  She led several runs with her serve as well and has proven to be a huge part of our success.

Aliyah DelSonno had 15 digs, and Ella Stodden distributed nine assists in the loss.

Taconic (1-1) Wednesday travels to Bennington, Vt., to face Mount Anthony.
