Monument Mountain Edges Wahconah

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Dominic Calautti hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and send the Monument Mountain baseball team on to a 3-2 win over Wahconah on Saturday.
 
The winning run started when Griffin McElroy reached on an error to lead off the inning. He then stole second and third ahead of Calautti.
 
Cole Bissaillon led the Spartans’ offense, going 3-for-3 with a run scored.
 
Jayder Raifstanger earned the win on the mound for Monument Mountain, striking out three and allowing no runs in three innings of relief.
 
Wahconah did its damage in the second inning.
 
Holden Kotelnicki drew a leadoff walk, and Ryan Marauszwski singled to put two runners on with nobody out.
 
After a pair of strikeouts, Ethan Orsini drew a walk to load the bases.
 
Matt Kinzer looked at four straight balls to drive in Kotelnicki. Marauszwski scored on James Rabuse’s RBI single to center field.
 
Charlie Wendell and Breadyn Melle handled the pitching for Wahconah, allowing no earned runs.
 
Wahconah (1-2) goes to Ludlow on Monday.
 
Monument Mountain (3-0) goes to Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
