NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Olivia Carlson led all scorers with 14 points as Drury cruised to a 53-37 victory on Thursday’s Senior Night.

Carlson scored eight of her points from the charity stripe, shooting an impressive 80 percent from the line.

Jenna Moulton chipped in with nine points, While Molly Moulton and Katie Toomey had eight each.

It was a back and forth game early in the first quarter, but Drury (12-4) was able to pick the intensity up on the defensive end and go into the break with a 25-13 lead.

“We ramped up the defense and stopped playing zone and went right to man,” Drury coach Brian Flagg said. “That’s our bread and butter: good communication tough man to man defense.”

For Taconic (3-12), Janee Walker had 12 points and Jasmine Rodriquez helped out with nine.

This was the second meeting of the season for these two teams and the second loss for Taconic.

Drury controlled most of the game from the start except for a little stretch at the end of the third quarter which saw Taconic cut it to a single-digit deficit. As the fourth quarter began, Drury was able to sort things out and get to the foul line often to help stretch the game out. The Blue Devils shot 20-29 from the line.

“We work so hard everyday on shooting free throws and they did a great job when they got to the line,” coach Flagg said.

Taconic will go on the road to play Hoosac Valley Thursday, While Drury will host Pittsfield at home Thursday night.
