Free Community Baby Shower

12:00AM / Monday, October 02, 2006

Lanesboro - The 11th annual Community Baby Shower will be held on Sat. Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berkshire Mall Center Court.

This event, co-hosted by Child Care of the Berkshires, Berkshire North WIC, and the REACH Community Health Foundation, is for pregnant women and their partners, parents, grandparents and others who care for young children. The Baby Shower is free and open to the public.

Agencies from throughout Berkshire County will have information on ways to keep pregnant women, families, and children safe and healthy. Some of the topics include infant care, pre-natal development, nutrition, breastfeeding, lead poisoning prevention, labor and delivery, selecting child care, importance of
dental health, community resources for families and children and many more.

Fun and informative workshops will be held during the event, beginning at 10:30 a.m.. Workshops being offered include nutrition for young children, breastfeeding basics, and dental health for young children. Sign-up for the workshops will be at the registration table on the day of the event and people are encouraged to sign up early.

Many items donated by area businesses will be raffled off throughout the event. Many of the participating agencies will have their own raffle drawings as well. There will also be gifts and raffles in the workshops. The first two hundred people who visit the informational tables will receive a free bag with items donated by local and

national companies.
