Charlene Bancroft, 81
MORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charlene Ross Bowen Bancroft, 81, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at her home.
Born in Readsboro, Vt., on Feb. 17, 1932, a daughter of Charles and Mary Dix Wellman, she attended schools in Readsboro and Whitingham, Vt.
Mrs. Bancroft was a homemaker and devoted mother.
She was a founding member of the Fireman's Auxiliary in Readsboro along with Lena Comai, serving as president for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the First Baptist Church in Readsboro. She later moved to Manchester, Vt., and attended First Baptist Church there.
Her second husband, Raymond Bowen, died Nov. 15, 1987, and her third husband, Kenneth Bancroft, died March 8, 2006.
She leaves three daughters, Deborah Matteson and Rebecca Ruth Ward, both of Manchester, and Donna Marie Walker of East Arlington, Vt.; a son, Gary Ross of East Arlington; a brother, John P. Wellman and his former wife, Carol Wellman, both of New Hampshire; her first and former husband, Clarence Ross Jr.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Diane Louise Ross, son Gilbert John Ross and sister Ida Golledge.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Per Mrs. Bancroft's request there will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in the Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester.
