Dorothy H. Silverman, 90
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dorothy Hilda Silverman, 90, of North Adams died on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 18, 1924, daughter of Guido and Delia Balduzzi Delaiti, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School. She also attended the former Bliss Business College for one year.
Mrs. Silverman was last employed by the former England Brothers Department Store as the director of personnel and customer service for 17 years until her retirement in 1980. Prior to that, she worked at Brook Haven National Laboratories on Long Island, N.Y., for two years and in personnel at the former Big N Department Store in Pittsfield.
She and her husband, Louis Silverman, were married on July 26, 1952, in Pownal, Vt.
Besides her husband of 62 years, she leaves one son, Mark Silverman of Boston; two nieces, Bernice Gaynor-Goldman of Acton and Celia Goldman of Hartford, Conn.; a nephew, Gerald Goldman of Rhinebeck, N.Y., and Kathy Grandshaw of Pittsfield, whom she treated as one of her nieces.
Her brother, Hugh Delaiti, and a sister, Marilyn Heacox, are deceased.
