Chester Wotkowicz

Chester Joseph Wotkowicz, 82, of 9 Hoosac St. died yesterday morning at home. Born in Adams on Dec. 8, 1918, son of Joseph and Julia Wszolek Wolkowicz, he attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1938. Mr. Wotkowicz was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as an aviation radio man in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as a machine operator at the former W.R. Grace Co., now MacDermid Graphic Arts, and its predecessor, Dewey Almy Chemical Corp., until retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service. Mr. Wotkowicz was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society and the Polish National Alliance. He enjoyed playing golf. His wife, the former Veronica A. Zamora, whom he married May 10, 1947, died April 6, 1980. He leaves three sons, Chester Wotkowicz Jr., Thomas Wotkowicz and Joseph Wotkowicz, all of Adams; a daughter, Teresa Winarski of Adams; a sister, Pauline Degener of Albany, N.Y.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
