Eugene P. Pomerleau, 90

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Eugene P. Pomerleau, 90, recently of Gonic, N.H., and formerly of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Lanesborough, Mass., passed away on December 13, 2016, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. 

Gene was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on December 2, 1926, the son of Joseph N. and Elsie Tremblay Pomerleau. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, where he was part of the occupation forces in Japan. He worked for the General Electric Company in the Power Transformer Department for over thirty-five years. He was also a partner in the Greylock Film Service. 

He was married to Caroline Carbone for over 37 years. He built his own home in Lanesborough, where he and his wife raised three children. He spent the last 28 years in Florida with his companion Ruth Ditore, who died recently. 

He is survived by his children, Michael Pomerleau and his wife Patty, Carolyn Roy and her husband Tim, and Denise Roller and her husband Steve; five grandchildren, Jason Roy, Jessica Ovens and her husband Mike, Mark Pomerleau, Devon Roller and Kevin Pomerleau; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Avery, Shane, and Rylie Ovens; brothers Joseph R. Pomerleau, with whom he resided in New Hampshire, and Arthur Pomerleau and his wife Phyllis.; sisters Florence Worster, Betty Tufts, Theresa Tolman and Annette Cook and her companion Joe Penta; many loving nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces, as well as members of the Ditore family. 

Gene was predeceased by his parents, wife Caroline, mother-in-law Margaret Pinyone, and brothers Ernest, William and Daniel.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Eugene P. Pomerleau will be held Monday, December 19, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. from the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Calling hours will be held Monday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in memory of Mr. Pomerleau be made to Hyder Hospice Unit, 285 County Farm Road, Dover, N.H. 03820 or in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
