Bessie Lapine, 92

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Bessie (Jones) Lapine, 92, of Clarksburg died Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Berkshire Medical Center.
She was born in Lakemont, Ga., on December 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Henry Franklin Jones and Lillie (Cannon) Jones. She graduated from Lakemont High School. She was employed for many years in the cafeteria at the Clarksburg School.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. Her focus in life was her family.
Mrs. Lapine was an active member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams. She also was a member of the Clarksburg Senior Center, volunteered at the Clarksburg voting polls, member of the Hairpin Square Dancing Club and the Three State Cloggers.
Her husband Louis C. Lapine, whom she married March 31, 1944, died February 26, 2007.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Strong and her husband Neal of Shaftsbury, Vt., two sons, Charles T. Lapine and his wife Sally and Wayne Lapine, both of North Adams; two grandsons, Charles T. "Chad" Lapine Jr. and his wife Tina and Eric Lapine; three great-grandchildren, Travis, Cameron and Nathan Lapine; one great-great-grandchild, Kai Louis Lapine; and one brother, Thomas Jones of Georgia.
She was predeceased by five sisters, Cora Pauline Whitley, Sallie Mae Jones, Savannah Grace Gibson, Hattie Ruth Whitley and Eleanor Anne Phillips.
The family of would like to thank staff members of the Third Floor East at BMC and the staff at North Adams Commons for their loving care and support that they gave to Bessie.
Funeral notice: Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Bessie Lapine will take place Friday, March 17, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will take place in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, are Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for North Adams ambulance Service or the North Adams Baptist Church through the funeral home.
