LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Shirley E. Decelles, 91, of 11 Balance Rock Road passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. 

Born on July 15, 1925 in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Jessie McConnachie Almstead. A longtime Lanesborough resident, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She married her husband, the late Francis L. Decelles, on June 6, 1949, in Pittsfield. He died on November 1, 2004. 

A homemaker for much of her life, she had also worked at one time as a clerical worker in the Audit Department at Sears & Roebuck. She enjoyed pets, gardening and being a den mother for the Boy Scouts. 

She leaves three sons, David F. Decelles and his wife Camille of Pittsfield, Robert H. Decelles and his wife Denise of Lanesborough and William F. Decelles of Lanesborough; three daughters, Lynda Brignolo of Lanesborough, Joanne Sayers and her husband Henry of Lanesborough, and Pamela Rathbun and her husband Thomas of Lanesborough; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Farris; and by her brother, Charles Almstead.

Funeral notice: Funeral services and burial for Shirley E. Decelles who passed away April 3, 2017, will be private at a later date. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the Lanesborough Fire Department or to the Berkshire Humane Society both in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is handling arrangements.
