Gene Vanbrammer, 71

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Gene “The Rodfather” VanBramer, 71, of 104 Nancy Avenue, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, after a courageous battle with a cerebral hemorrhage. 

Born on January 14, 1946, son of the late John R. and E. Geraldine Andrews VanBramer. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended college.

Mr. VanBramer had a long career in the automotive industry. He was the owner-operator of Gene’s Auto Restoration. He was employed in the Parts Department at NAPA and Southgate Motors. He also worked in the automobile detailing business.

Gene’s work was his hobby and his hobby was his life. He was a vintage car expert and collector. As a local car enthusiast, Gene was a member of the Piston Poppers, the Good Guys, and was involved with drag boats in California. 

Mr. VanBramer was predeceased by his parents, his two sisters, Ann Demick and Barbara J. Bauer, and his brother, Thomas J. VanBramer. He, however, leaves many friends. 

Funeral notice: Calling hours for Gene “The Rodfather” VanBramer will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Funeral Home to offset final expenses.
