Harold 'Bob' King, 84

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Mr. Harold Robert "Bob" King, 84, of Clarksburg died on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass.

He was born in North Adams on June 14, 1932, a son of the late James and Ellen (Hughes) King. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1952.

Following graduation, Mr. King enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. through the Buddy Program with his best friend Albert Brooks in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict until receiving his Honorable Discharge on June 22, 1955.

Mr. King had worked for the former Brightwater Paper Co in the 1960s and later for various oil companies in North Adams and Williamstown until his retirement.

He was a member of the Williamstown American Legion and the Clarksburg Veterans of Foreign Wars where he had served as a member and officer and was an active greeter and helper at their pancake breakfasts. Mr. King was an active member of the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company where he has served for 50 plus years. Bob was a great friend and role model to all and would do anything for anyone.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Patricia Eurbin, whom he married on September 3, 1955, in St. John Bosco Church, Stamford, Vt.; three children, Steven King and his wife Lori of North Adams, Kathy Therrien and her husband Steve of Stamford and Diane Therrien and her husband James of Stamford; one brother, William King and his wife Judy of Chicopee, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Michael Therrien and his wife Mandy, Kevin Therrien and his wife Tinna, Karen Mastromarchi and her husband Patrick, Lynn Parrott and her husband Matt, Jonathan King, Ashley Therrien and Nicholas King; 12 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Raymond, James, Vincent, Donald and Francis King; and by two sisters, Catherine Felix and Marie Rohane.

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.

Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company, 181 Cross Rd. Clarksburg, MA 01247.
