Gary H. Coe, 67

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Mr. Gary H. Coe, 67 of West Palm Beach, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 24, 2017, in his home.

He was born in Port Chester, N.Y., on November 1, 1949, son of Melvin and Barbara Coe. As a young boy, he with his family, moved to Heartwellville, Vt., where his parent’s operated the Old Coach Inn for many years. He attended schools in Readsboro and North Adams, Mass., and graduated from Drury High School in 1968. He attended Norwich Academy, where he received his bachelors in Civil Engineering and graduated with the officers’ title of 2nd Lieutenant in 1972. After graduating college, he joined the Army and was released with Honors in 1973. 

When he returned home, he started his own land surveying company out of Heartwellville, Vt., and then went to work with his father for many year operating the Mobil Gas Station on Route 9E in Wilmington, Vt. In 1987, he moved with his family to Shelburne, Vt., where he worked as a Land Surveyor for Fitzpatrick-Llewellyn Incorporated for several years before moving to West Palm Beach, Fla., in 1996 where he worked for Dennis Leavy & Associates for the last 20 years. 

He was the widower of Gloria A. Coe, who passed on December 4, 2012. They married in 1976 and were together for 40 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Tiffani Coe and her fiancé James D. Neilson III of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Elizabeth Vaughn and her husband Tim Vaugh of Inverness, Fla.; two sons, Guy Coe and his wife Maria of Lynchburg, Va., and Matthew H. Coe of Fayetteville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Micheal and Ashley White-Coe, Jason Neilson, Alexis and Hayley Coe, Miaki Coe, Alexzander, Muriel, Cassidy and Sebastian Vaughn; one great granddaughter; two sisters; one brother; and nieces, nephews and other immediate family.  

Funeral notice: A memorial service is being held at the Readsboro Baptist Church on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. Immediately after the service Gary and Gloria Coe will be laid to rest with each other at the North Hill cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Disabled American Veterans.
