Charles E. Wright, 94

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charles Edward Wright, 94, of North Adams, Mass., died Monday May 29, 2017, at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt.
He was born in Laconia, N.H., on August 20, 1922, son of the late Ralph A. and Rose Estella (MacMurphy) Wright. He attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941.
Charles was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Marines in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by the Sprague Electric Co. for many years until his retirement.
Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams. He was a member of the Lafayette Lodge of Masons and the North Adams VFW. Charles was an active outdoorsman and was passionate about hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Stamford Sportsman's Club. In his younger years, he lived in Alaska for about three years where he worked at a cannery; was part of a seismic crew for oil drillers; and operated a commercial fishing business.
His wife was Mary Helena (Roberts) Wright; she died on January 6, 1977. They were married on August 28, 1949.
Survivors include one son, Douglas W. Wright and his wife Mary Lou of Stamford, Vt.; three grandchildren, including twins Jeffrey Wright of Westboro, Mass., and Adam Wright of Essex Junction, Vt., and Petty Officer First Class Matthew Wright of the US Navy in Port Hueneme, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Mary Wright of Essex Junction, Vt.; a sister, Flora Fressola of Williamstown, Mass.; a brother, Ralph A. Wright of Williamstown, Mass.; a niece, Mary Fressola of Williamstown, Mass.; and a nephew, Michael Fressola of Pownal, Vt.
Funeral notice: The funeral for Charles Wright will be for family only on Monday, June 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Camp Ashmere in care of the funeral home.
