Dorothy E. St. Denis, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dorothy Ellen (Dean) St. Denis, 96, of North Adams, Mass., died Saturday July 29, 2017 at her home.  

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on September 10, 1920, daughter of Charles and Marie F. (Martell) Dean.  She attended local schools.

Dorothy worked for Aramark Food Service at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for 31 years until her retirement in 2008 and was also a housemother at the Pines Fraternity at MCLA for over 30 years.  She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion in North Adams. Dorothy was also a member of the Greenfield Moose Lodge. She enjoyed sewing.

She was the widow of Harold St. Denis, who died on December 10, 1983. They were married on July 22, 1938.

Survivors include one daughter, Joann Aubin and her husband, Raymond, of North Adams; one son, James St. Denis and his wife, Patricia, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her son, Harold St. Denis Jr., died in 2002 and two sisters and one brother are deceased, including Elaine LaBonte, Judith Dean and Alfred Dean.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Dorothy St. Denis will be Wednesday August 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.  

Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.

May God comfort you during this sad time. It is so painful to lose those we love. It has been many, many years since I was in North Adams, but I do remember the Dean girls.
I went to St. Joseph's School and Judith was my best friend. The Nuns kept an eye on us for we were full of mischief.
